Degas’s early artistic style was greatly reminiscent of the works of both Ingress and his teacher Louis Lamothe. Degas spent the next three years of his life in Italy where he stayed with his aunt’s family, it was during this time that he made detailed studies that would go on to create his first true masterpiece “The Ballelli Family”.
