Biography of Caravaggio (Michaelangelo Merisi)

Despite being the genius that he was, Caravaggio foolishly killed a young man in 1606 during a brawl and he was subsequently forced to flee from Rome with a price on his head. But his troubles were far from over; he was once again the subject of public outrage when he had a brawl in the city of Malta (during the year 1608) and barely a year later he was the subject of a near-fatal attack that nearly claimed his life.
